Research
“Standing on the shoulders of giants.”
(Bernard of Chartres)
Research at the Institute of Digital Communications covers a wide range of topics, from research on future mobile communication standards to questions in the very young, highly interdisciplinary field of molecular communications.
Research at the IDC has resulted in numerous publications that demonstrate the quality and relevance of the research. These include not only presentations at internationally recognised conferences and publications in prestigious journals, but also patents and book publications. IDC researchers have received numerous international and national awards for their publications and research.
IDC’s research projects are supported by renowned funding bodies such as the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWi), the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the European Union (EU). There is an ongoing exchange and cooperation with institutes of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (FhG), as well as joint research projects with various well-known industrial partners.
