IoBNT Project Meeting at IDC
The Institute for Digital Communications (IDC) hosted a two-day project status meeting for the Internet of Bio-Nano Things (IoBNT) project from Monday, February 24 to Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg! The IoBNT project aims to develop a communication platform for connecting the human body to future 6G networks and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The meeting brought together more than 45 participants, including our project partners from TU Berlin, TU Munich, TU Darmstadt, TU Dresden, University of Lübeck, TH Dortmund, and the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Kaiserslautern. On the FAU side, the following chairs were involved: IDC, BVT (Chair of Bioprocess Engineering), and LITES (Institute for Smart Electronics and Systems).
On both days, the discussions were enriched by invited talks, given by two external speakers: Prof. Dr. Dagmar Fischer, Chair of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy at the FAU, and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. habil. med. Stefan Lyer, professor for AI-assisted nanomaterials at the University Hospital Erlangen. Their valuable contributions sparked an engaging exchange on the latest progress and future directions of IoBNT.
The meeting provided a great platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning as we continue to push the boundaries of bio-nano communication research.
