The Institute for Digital Communications at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg offers two exciting internship positions in the field of molecular communications for undergraduate students from North America, Great Britain and Ireland. These internships are funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and DFG (German Research Foundation) as part of the Research Internship in Science and Engineering (RISE) program.
The topics are related to particle source localization in branched vessel networks and have a strong experimental component:
  • Position 1: “Experimental Analysis of Particle Source Localization in Branched Vessel Networks” –> More information
  • Position 2: “Improving Source Localization Accuracy in Branched Vessel Networks Using Prior Information” –> More information
For more details on the internship positions, please see the project descriptions, or contact Timo Jakumeit or Bastian Heinlein.
Both positions offer a full scholarship of 992€ per month and cover health insurance, accident and personal liability insurance costs. The scholarships also cover international travel costs with an international travel subsidy.
The internships will begin around May 15, 2025, and will last 3 months. During this time, there will be close supervision by two doctoral researchers. Applications can be submitted via the RISE website (https://www.daad.de/rise/en/rise-germany/find-an-internship/application-portal/) until November 30, 2024. The positions offered by IDC can be found in the application portal under the codes Erlangen_EN_EN_0245 (Position 1) and Erlangen_EN_EN_0246 (Position 2).
